Welcome to the Kentucky Forest Products Directory!

The Kentucky forest products industry is the fourth largest manufacturing industry in the state, employing over 37,500 people. Forest-based manufacturing provides $2.9 billion in value-added and $6.4 billion in value of shipments to Kentucky's economy each year. Out of Kentucky’s 120 counties, 112 have at least one wood-based company. The annual payroll (excluding benefits) for the wood industry is approximately $820 million. Wood industries employ one out of every nine manufacturing workers in the state

Kentucky continues to increase the total volume of present and future timber trees (growing stock) despite a loss of forest acreage. Kentucky’s forests are renewable, increasing the total growing stock by approximately 1 percent per year. Large saw timber growing stock has increased by approximately 2 percent per year. Increases in growing stock outpace removals as indicated by a net gain of growing stock every year since 1988.

This directory is an ongoing effort and is compiled from information collected by personnel from the Kentucky Division of Forestry, Frankfort, KY, and the University of Kentucky Department of Forestry Extension personnel located at the Robinson Station, Jackson, KY. The data is collected by sending questionnaires to known firms and by personal contact, utilizing many address databases for Kentucky manufacturing firms. A sincere effort is made to include all firms. Inclusion does not constitute endorsement of that firm, neither does exclusion reflect negatively on a firm. Much of the accuracy and completeness of information collected for this publication depends on the cooperation of the listed companies. Information is reported as we receive it from the company.
