Customized Training Courses

The staff of the UK Wood Utilization Center and the instructors of the Forestry and Wood Technology Program at Hazard Community and Technical College have developed and delivered three training courses for the American Woodmark plant in the Regional Coal Fields Industrial Park near Hazard, Kentucky.

Forty new employees of the Woodmark plant have spent their first few days on the job at the UK Wood Utilization Center participating in intensive training programs before they report to the plant and start new jobs. The training programs were: moulder set-up and operations with a knife grinding option, chop saw set-up and operation, and solid wood panel production . Instructors for the respective courses were Bobby Ammerman, Don Barnes and Roland Fowler.

In the next 6 to 8 months these courses will be repeated at the Wood Utilization Center for approximately 100 to 150 people.
